Dr. Christopher Prather

Dr. Prather and his wife, Amy, have called Noblesville home since 2003. They are so thrilled to have the opportunity to serve their community through Prather Family Eyecare.

A native Hoosier, Dr. Prather grew up in the Indiana towns of Kokomo and Rensselaer, graduating from Rensselaer Central High School. He attended Indiana University Bloomington where he earned a B.S. in Biology with High Distinction and achieved membership in Phi Beta Kappa and Golden Key honor societies. After one year of study at Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield, Missouri, Dr. Prather attended Indiana University School of Optometry.

While in optometry school, Dr. Prather traveled with Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH) to Guanajuato, Mexico where for one week he assisted in the examination and fitting of glasses for thousands of underprivileged citizens. He also achieved membership in Beta Sigma Kappa honor society and was one of just 8 members of his class invited to attend the Alcon Scholar Award Seminar in Fort Worth, Texas during the final year of optometry school.

Dr. Prather completed internships in ocular disease at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Danville, IL and Eye Surgeons of Indiana in Indianapolis. He received his Doctorate of Optometry degree in May 2003. He began practicing optometry in Noblesville later that year.

Dr. Prather’s professional interests include: the management of chronic ocular diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, glaucoma, and dry eye syndrome; the treatment of acute ocular conditions such as injury, infection, flashes & floaters, and allergic reactions; removal of foreign body in the eye; cataract and LASIK surgical co-management; contact lens fitting; and amblyopia treatment. Most of all, he enjoys each day helping patients to maximize and preserve one of their most blessed gifts—their sense of sight.

Dr. and Mrs. Prather are members of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, where Amy works as a preschool teacher. They enjoy hiking, camping, and all outdoor activities. When not working they can usually be found at a local ball field or court watching one of their 4 sons participate in youth sports.
